Philosophy for Religious Education
The Religious Education program for Children is intended to support parents in educating their children about the Catholic faith. Each grade level provides learning experiences based on the individual child's understanding of God and the church. Emphasis on church doctrine is included with each lesson, and prayer is an integral part of each class.
Lessons for Grade K- 5 are every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. We also offer dinner for the children and their families (by donation, beginning at 5 pm.
Parents are invited to stay and meet in the parish hall during their child's class time for coffee, fellowship and faith discussions.
A special "Family Mass" is celebrated the last Sunday in the month from October - April at the 10 am Mass where children participate in all areas of the Mass. The homily for this Mass is specifically directed to the children who are invited to sit around the altar during the homily. Children who love to sing are invited to join the kid's choir. Contact Terri-Ann Wynans for practice dates.
The other Sunday 10 am Masses of the month have a Children's Liturgy program in which children aged 3-6 are invited to leave the church and go with catechists and leaders to the Parish kitchen area for a "child" sized Sunday Gospel lesson and activity. The children return to the church at the offertory.
We provide many activities to immerse your children in the life of the church and all its celebrations.
Come join us to celebrate Saint’s Feast Days like the All Saint’s Eve Party, Our Lady of Guadalupe Mexican Fiesta, and lots more fun throughout the Church year.
